Scrolling across the Moon
Lunar Strike is a single player sci-fi adventure set in humanity's last lunar colony. To announce the game on Steam we built lunarstrike.net: not a regular landing page, but a short mission in the browser.
Once loaded, you hit Start Mission and leave the hangar. Your scroll position decides where you are in the video: scroll forward and the astronaut walks on across the lunar surface. Drag with your mouse to look around. Along the way there are twenty hidden objects, from old rovers to mining shafts, each revealing a short story from the game's world on hover.
Meanwhile your oxygen runs low, and faster the harder you scroll. When the meter hits zero, the mission ends with "The moon does not forgive." and a link to the Steam page.
- Video timeline tied to the scroll position, with smooth scrolling through Lenis and GSAP
- Drag to look around the scene
- Twenty hidden collectibles with lore, timed and positioned per second of video
- Oxygen meter that drops over time and with scroll speed, with an end screen at zero
- Loading screen that preloads the video, with a music toggle
- Links to Steam, a beta tester form and socials, plus a separate mobile page with the teaser
