How long does a .be transfer take?

As soon as the transfer code is valid, DNS Belgium carries out the transfer immediately. It usually completes within a few hours. Most of the time goes into preparation: copying and setting up your DNS records.

Where do I request the transfer code?

As the domain holder, you request the transfer code on the DNS Belgium website, or through your current or new registrar. DNS Belgium always sends the code to the domain holder's email address as it is listed in their registration system. The code consists of 15 digits and is valid for 7 days.

Will my website and email keep working during the transfer?

Yes, as long as the DNS settings have been copied correctly beforehand. That is why we prepare all records before the transfer starts and check everything afterwards.

Does the transfer change my domain's registration period?

A .be transfer starts a new one-year registration period and is charged as a registration. Whatever you already paid your previous provider is not refunded. So ideally, transfer shortly before your domain is due for renewal.

Do I stay the owner of my domain?

Yes. You only change registrar; the domain holder stays the same. Want to change the holder at the same time, for example after an acquisition? We can arrange that too.

What if I no longer use the domain holder's email address?

Then you cannot receive the transfer code. The holder details first need to be updated through your current provider. Get in touch and we will work out the best approach together.
